Not just because I have what sounds like an awesome job lined up for when I return to Detroit, not because I may very soon be responsible for the redesign and development for five related websites, but because I have ordered business cards.
This may come as a shock to the masses of people I’m sure are reading this, but I’ve long dreamed of having my own business cards. Throughout my childhood, I lamented the fact that I didn’t have a job mostly on the grounds that I had no reason to carry business cards as a result. This past year, though, things got downright embarrassing. The number of times I’ve taken someone’s business card and then had to say “Oh no, I don’t have one yet.” has been demoralizing.
I’m extremely excited to announce that I’ve gone ahead and ordered these from MOO and they should arrive soon. They were a little bit pricey and I know how you always see those ads for 500 free business cards and so on, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about the company and I wanted to try them out for myself. Apparently, I could’ve chosen up to 50 different images for the back for the same price? I’ll definitely look into that next time. I was also very taken with the idea of rounded corners. You’d think a person who hasn’t yet actually made much money wouldn’t be quite so quick to spend it, but I have faith that these cards are going to give me a nice confidence boost the next time I’m at some networking event.
